WHY CEREAL?
Cereal is the 7th most purchased item by food stamps. Every box includes a pack of cereal for the family, and a pack of tampons for the women in the home.
1 IN 4 WOMEN CAN'T AFFORD MONTHLY PERIOD SUPPLIES
It's an invisible problem affecting over 300,000 women in Chicago alone. The lack of period supplies leads to women missing school or work. But at its worst, these women have to use makeshift items while on their period. This can be unsanitary and dangerous to their health.
PERIOD SUPPLIES AREN'T COVERED BY FOOD STAMPS
Chocolate, soda, chips and other snack foods are all covered with food stamps, but a necessity like tampons isn't. So women are faced with a tough decision: either they feed their families or take care of their own sanitary needs.
NOW YOU CAN HAVE YOUR TAMPONS, AND EAT TOO.
